“Greetings, Mystery Seekers!…”
[REDACTED] is set deep within the Appalachian forests of West Virginia, in the year of 1986. The game has been inspired by found-footage horror like The Blair Witch Project, 80s horror such as The Thing, combined with the kitsch of Scooby Doo, and The Goonies, and also draws inspiration from the surge in popularity of this time period and genre following the wake of ‘Stranger Things’.
Players will form team members of a crew that have joined the competition to hunt for proof of cryptids, these specialist roles are a presenter, a videographer, a guide, and a researcher. Players will have to use their combined skills to collect evidence of, and survive the various creatures you may come across within the Monongahela (mon-on-ga-hela) National Forest.
The main objective is to collect evidence, and maybe even catch glimpses of your favourite cryptids, but you might find that there are many more mysterious happenings in the wilderness than things that go bump in the night. For much of this game, crews will be working independently following up their own leads and clues they come across – after all this is a competition.
The base camp will be the Viking Village which will take on the role of ‘Camp Cranberry’, a summer camp hired during its off season. There will be plenty of unique NPCs within the game primarily based in this area that players will be able to interact with for unique game play opportunities and mechanics.
