Story So Far
Spring 1204 AD
Following the theft of King John’s silver, just outside Andover, the spirit of rebellion flourishes in England again. The people have seen that there are still those with the means and will to defy the King, and with each day that passes, more and more join the resistance against the crown. Meanwhile, Normandy has fallen to France, with rumours abound that King Phillip has his eyes set on an invasion of England.
In response, King John has focused all his efforts in reasserting his authority. Tyranny swells as his Sheriffs crack down on any perceived act of rebellion, with more and more new taxes being invented to strip as much wealth as possible from the people. Public resistance is met with brutal retribution by roaming knights, returned from Normandy, sharpened by war, and completely loyal to John. They hunt rebels wherever they go, leaving no stone unturned and ensuring that the enemies of the King find no peace.
A call for aid reaches the friends of William Marshall as the year turns to March. An ally with vital information is being pursued by John’s forces in Lincolnshire. Much hinges on the knowledge she holds, but she has been captured by the Gryphon’s, Lionhearts turned bandits who have been the terror of the nobility in recent months. Marshall has called all who are willing to go to Lincolnshire to rescue the messenger and ensure her information reaches its destination. Rebels, hoods, and outlaws alike flock to Lincoln, as the next battle for England’s liberty is about to begin
